2009 Youth Director Job Description for Student Ministries

Priority: Maintain a spiritual personal walk with the Lord through prayer, study, generosity, devotions and disciplines.

Ministry Responsibility: This staff member is responsible for ministry to students in middle school (5-8), and high school (9-12)- 2 different groups.

Reporting: The Youth Director relates to the Senior Pastor primarily through weekly staff, monthly personal meetings and working with the “Committee on Youth Ministries.”*

The Youth Director works with the “Committee on Youth Ministries”.

The Youth Director is to provide written report to The Staff Parish and Administrative Council. 

The Youth Director attends 6-7 “Committee on Youth Ministries” Meetings yearly and 4 church Council meetings yearly and 4 Staff Parish meetings yearly to represent the student ministry to the church council.

*Note: Any serious crisis situations involving the student ministry are to be communicated to the Senior Pastor as soon as possible.

Staff: Full participant in weekly morning staff meetings (10am-12noon on Mon. or Tues).

Commitment: We will ask the candidate we call for this position to make a commitment to be with the church a minimum of 2 years. We realize the person may be here more than 2 years, but we believe that this type of commitment will be a stabilizing influence for the students, leaders and parents involved in this ministry.

Financial Compensation: Annual salary approximately $12,000 based on experience, education, call, family needs and national salary research

Youth Leaders/Sponsors: Recruit (in accordance with established church policies), train, supervise, and provide accountability for a team of sponsors -- minimum goal of 1 adult sponsor (25 years or older) for every 10 students (currently we have 3 active sponsors serving approximately 15-20 youth that attend our Sunday school, Wednesday nights, and/or events).

Church Mission: The new Youth Director will be asked to develop a ministry strategy and format that incorporates the visioning ideas and values of our church and pastor (“Sonlife Strategy” is familiar and used by the pastor.)
